We need to address the copying and scams related to our product. Sadly.
For those of you that don't know, Kickstarter is a good place to copy ideas, because the creators launch in order to get funding for production. This gives others the opportunity to beat the creators to market. Almost always with an inferior product. They don't care about the quality of the product or the mission.
About 4 weeks ago (right after our great launch on Kickstarter) product pages on Amazon, eBay and Aliexpress started cropping up with our product photos. They are not allowed to do this as the pictures are our IP, but it takes a while to have something like this taken down. Sadly we where not prepared. We are now working with Red Point (IP protection) to have them all removed. Hopefully within a week or two.
We are 3 people who have spent almost a year.
A lot of backers have been confused by these scam pages and some even though that we are the scam. We are 3 people who have spent almost a year - working full time - creating LastSwab. With the sole purpose to eliminate the need for single use cotton swabs.
Our deepest thank you to all the backers that support us and believe in us. To give you all piece of mind I'd like go through some evidence to prove that we are the real deal. For those that don't need to hear it, you need read no further.
We have created hundreds of prototypes of LastSwab and it's case. We have 3D printed prototypes of some of them (this is just a small outtake):
One of our backers recently shared a photo of a product he bought on Amazon that is a copy of LastSwab:
James (our backer) does not mention anything about the quality of the product he bought. We can't tell if James is scam too, but it's not uncommon for scammers to pose as backers. The product to the right is most likely a 3D print that is not made with silicone ends and the rod is brittle and bendy. See how the rod also bends slightly? This is common with thin 3D printed rods. A product like this cannot be 3D printed for use. It must be made with a mold. It's unlikely that the scammers have created a mold this fast, and even if they have, it's very unlikely that they are producing a product that will last for 1000 uses.
We're sad that we have to spend time addressing this, when we just want to focus on getting you your LastSwabs. But it's also import to us that you guys feel safe about backing us.
