Hemp In The Fashion Industry
It’s not often that a plant that was illegal until last year becomes a next cultural trend, but, then again, hemp has always played by its own rules; the next step for the cannabis plant is to change the fashion world as we know it.
Hemp is here to stay
Denim company Levi’s has nipped the trend for sustainable clothing in the bud by integrating hemp fibres with cotton in its garments. Hemp crops use significantly less water and chemicals than cotton, and can be reworked to be just as soft. Customers won’t even know the difference, so even if the sustainability trend dies down, hemp is here to stay. As it always has been.
